About the survey

At Teacher Tapp and School Surveys, we are passionate about hearing the voices of those on the ground and this includes parents and carers. 

The early weeks of a pupil starting at a new school are a crucial time – for both the pupil and their family. We want to understand if parents feel they and their child have the support and communication to foster strong relationships and set their child on a path to enjoyment and success at school. We’ve designed a new set of questions for school leaders to use with their parent community to explore these issues.

The Settling In Survey is a free parent survey designed to help schools gather valuable insights from their parents and carers about the start of their families’ relationship with the school  – including:

How much does it cost?

💡 It’s completely free—with no hidden commitments or need to cancel. Participating schools will be invited to receive the weekly School Surveys newsletter (for free) if they are not already receiving it. This includes Teacher Tapp and School Surveys data insights and blog posts of relevance to school leaders.

How do we share the survey with parents?

💡 Access to the survey is shared by a link or a QR code. The platform also generates a poster that can be printed and displayed, for example at the school gate. 

How do parents complete the survey?

💡 Parents can complete the survey on their phone or any internet-enabled device. They simply click on the link or QR code in order to complete the survey. No login is required. It takes a few minutes to complete.

Can you administer the survey on our behalf?

💡No, not for this trial. Your distribution options are sharing the link or QR code as described above. Full members of School Surveys can distribute surveys via uploading email addresses on our secure site: invitations are issued when the survey opens, with a further reminder the day before it closes. Participants click on the link that they receive and again no login is required.

Can I edit the survey?

💡 Yes, but only deleting questions or changing the order, not adding them. Full members of School Surveys can make other changes to templates: they can delete questions, or add in other questions from our bank of expertly-written questions. Full members can also write their own questions if they wish to.

Do you offer the survey in different languages?

💡 No, School Surveys uses English language throughout. Parents would need to use a separate translation tool in order to access the survey in a different language.

Do I need any special software?

💡 No! It’s an online survey, accessible from any device.
