Editing custom questions

Unfortunately, once a custom question has been created, it can no longer be edited. If you are having issues with this, please see below for the solution.

You can add the following types of questions to your staff, pupil, and parent surveys:

  • Open response
  • Single response
  • Multiple response

Please note that benchmarks will not be available for these questions. We encourage schools and trusts to choose from our question banks in order to take advantage of the benchmarks and question-writing expertise of our staff; however, we understand that you may wish to include school- or trust-specific questions.

Editing Custom Questions
If a mistake is made, such as a typo, or if you would like to reword a question, please be aware that editing custom questions is currently unavailable. This limitation exists because once a question is submitted to our database, it can be reused by your school or trust multiple times. Reusing consistent questions enables us to generate reports that compare results over time, helping you track progress toward your setting’s goals and gather actionable feedback effectively.

If a question is used in one survey and then reworded in another, the comparison report will no longer be valid. This is because staff, pupils, or parents may interpret the reworded question differently, leading to inconsistent results.

Solution for Editing
If you need to make changes to a question before it is sent out, you will need to recreate the question from scratch and add the updated version to your survey.
